How To Use Publisher Module Admin

The admin features on the publisher module allows you to publish, set rules and configure the display of the published items.  This feature is very helpful for your site if you want to set restrictions for your content.

Publish: Here is where you determine what will be published (seen) on your site.  All items you create in Publisher will need to be published to the site for them to be viewed by web browsers and users to your site.

Rules: Here you set the rules for the module.  If you have multiple people publishing to your site you can set rules so items do not publish until the item has been reviewed for errors and content.

Display: This is how you will determine the layout and display of published items.  You can choose how you want to display items such as the HTML editor, Images, Title, When and By Whom it was created, etc.  You can also select the column width, alignment, layout and how many columns you want for the module. You also will choose How To Order The View. And the sort type.

 

 

How To Add Item On Publisher Module

Click on the plus sign . This allows you to add an item to your page. 

Title and Description - just type in the title of your Publisher Item with a brief description.

Uploads and Files -

Here you will have the following options:

The File Link is provided for external File Links to Documents.  Enter the full web address here: "http://www.mywebpagelink.com".

Optionally, if you have a document or ad material on your PC hard drive, use the "Upload Method".  This will store the document on the server for people to read.

·         Hyperlinks is normally used for linking to an outside site with information regarding this post. Ex: http://www.microsoft.com, or use the List to pick an internal page to link to.

·        The Thumbnail Link Image is a small ".gif" or ".jpg" image of the item that is for sale (no more than 33 pixels by 33 pixels.   If you have an image that you would like to associate with this item, use the "Upload Method".  This will store the image on the server for display.

If the image size is not appropriate, the image may not be displayed well.

You will use more than one of these features at a time.  Several of these

options can be used in conjunction with other options. 

 

Dates and Prices - Schedule: This option allows you to start, end and expire certain items on your site.  For example if you are running a promotion that gives your customers 25% off their first subscription and this promotion ends in one week this is where you designate that function.

·        The Start Date defaults to today. The Start will be used as part of the Item Title and also sets the order by (descending order) for the display.
End Date and Expire Date defaults 30 days from today.

·  Cost (if applicable): This option allows you to track the cost for Member, non-member and Quantity on hand for the sale of products.  You can also show “sold out”.

Author - ContactID: The personal information is provided as read only, reflecting the content manager who added the item.  If your information is incorrect, use your "Edit Profile" from the "Member Toolbox".

 

HTML Editor - This allows you to add Text to your item.  If you can use WORD you can use this editor.

·        When using the HTML editor be sure to check "Display the HTML as a new web page" on the Hyperlinks portion of the Publisher.

·        If you are not familiar with HTML editors you will see the toolbar has similar function buttons as the toolbar in Microsoft Word.

 

 

 Now, don't forget to click "Save and Update this Publisher Item"
