Administering the Perkulator Portal
- Log into the portal.
o Log in as “admin” username, and use the BackdoorPassword you set up.
o For first time use of the portal, "admin" is the default password for the "admin" username. Remember to change the password!
- The “Admin” tab should now be visible to you.
- If this portal is “new”, please do these things first:
o It is highly recommended that you change the password on the “admin” user account to something else. Go to “Admin > Users” to do this.
o Apply a skin so that everything “looks good”. Go to “Admin > Display” to do this.
o Review and change settings for your portal so you are satisfied with how things work. Go to “Admin” main tab to do this.

o “Admin” main tab
§ Defines site-wide settings, configuration, and functionality
§ Most things on this page should be pretty self-explanitory. If in doubt, highlight the (?) images with your mouse to get more information.
o “Display” § Applies the “App_Themes” and “App_Layouts” to this portal. This system is also known as applying “Skins”. o “Panes” § Shows where the 6 CustomCode and 6 Panes are located for the active/applied skin. These locations are very important to become familiar with for the active skin. When adding modules to tabs, the location of the module is required: what Pane# to add the module to. o “RSS” § Shows a list of all RSS feeds that exist within the portal that are enabled for others to view or use on their site. This is specifically used in conjunction with the Publisher module. o “Users” § Manage all users within the portal, including adding and deleting them § Manage Member Types § Manage UserData § Import Users o “WebStats” § View all portal activity: Logins, Tab views, Publisher views, Referring Urls, Downloaded (publisher) files, Forum Threads and Boards views, IP addresses…
o “Display”
